July 14 | Gilded Age Connections

Trudy Coxe, Chief Executive Officer of The Preservation Society of Newport County, speaks on the familial and architectural ties, formed in the Gilded Age, that connect the cities of Newport and Philadelphia to the present day. She delves into the human stories behind the architects and owners of the most beautiful historic homes, and the cultural significance of the structures they created. Special attention is paid to Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer, whose houses attest to the attraction of Newport to some of Philadelphia’s wealthiest families.
